Try out a fun sport in a unique environment on our Uruguay River Kayak Tour. We'll set off from Colón and row along the Argentinean section of the Uruguay River while admiring the views around us.
When making your booking, you'll be able to choose between a 3 or an 8-hour kayak tour. Both routes start at the scheduled time from a campsite located next to the banks of the river where you'll be given a brief theory lesson.
This low-difficulty route is perfect for beginners, as we will cover a distance of around 6 miles (10 kilometres).
We'll row along one of the most beautiful areas of the Uruguay River, whose course forms the natural border between the country of the same name and the Argentinean province of Entre Ríos. As we kayak, we'll observe the great biodiversity of fauna and flora found in this area of South America.
If we're lucky, we might even spot some birds endemic to this area such as sparrow hawks, jacanas or kingfishers. In addition, we'll learn to distinguish one species from another.
Once we're at the halfway point, we'll take a break to rest on the shore and have a snack that'll include homemade cakes, fresh fruit, nuts and a selection of regional cakes. As a drink, you can choose between mate, tea or coffee. After we've had our snack, we'll return to the meeting point 3 hours after our departure.
Schedule: this tour runs at 10 am and 2 pm.
If you choose this option, we'll go on a medium-difficulty, 12-mile (20-kilometre) route.
As well as discovering the fauna and flora of the Uruguay River, we'll also learn some history as we come to one of the first river ports of the Spanish colony.
Afterwards, we'll stop at a river island in the Uruguay River to refuel with a delicious lunch. Our lunch will include a picada of regional products, grilled pizza and a selection of asados. You can choose from beef, chicken or a river fish, either sea bream or bogue. You'll also have the option of a vegetable stir-fry if you're a vegetarian or vegan. For dessert, you'll enjoy a fresh seasonal fruit salad.
It'll then be time to kayak back to the starting point, where we're expected to arrive at 6 pm.
