Do you know what the Moroccan tea ritual consists of? On this tea ceremony experience in Marrakech, we’ll discover each step of this cherished tradition, a true reflection of Moroccan hospitality and way of life.
At the scheduled time, we’ll meet at the Sources Berber Riad & Spa, a peaceful oasis located very close to Bahia Palace. As soon as you step inside this traditional setting, you’ll be immersed in an authentic atmosphere filled with the aroma of fresh mint and herbs. Welcome.
We’ll begin with an introduction to uncover all the details behind the ceremony. Moroccan tea is much more than a drink. It's a symbol of generosity and social connection, offered as a gesture of friendship. You’ll learn the meaning behind each ingredient, from green tea leaves to sugar and fresh herbs.
Throughout the experience, we’ll guide you step by step in preparing the tea. You’ll learn how to cleanse the teapot, control the strength of the leaves, and manage the water temperature to achieve the desired intensity. After the infusion, we’ll add the mint and sugar, seeking the perfect balance between sweetness and freshness.
Then comes the most anticipated moment: the pouring technique. You’ll be shown how to serve the tea from a certain height to create the characteristic frothy layer on top, an essential detail in Moroccan tea. After watching the process, you’ll practice the pour yourselves and refine your technique. Time to give it a try.
Finally, we’ll enjoy tasting the tea you’ve prepared, accompanied by a selection of traditional Moroccan pastries.
The activity will end 45 minutes later, once you’ve learned all the secrets needed to recreate this beautiful ritual at home.
