On the day of the activity, at the scheduled time, we'll pick you up from your central hotel in Ho Chi Minh. Then, we'll begin this amazing trip to the Cu Chi Tunnels. Ready for a unique adventure? Let's go!
Upon embarking on the scenic 2-hour drive through the picturesque Vietnamese countryside, we'll be provided with a glimpse of local rural life and landscapes. During the journey, the guide will share some interesting facts about the region and the historical significance of the Cu Chi Tunnels, setting the stage for the day's adventure.
Once we've arrived at the Cu Chi Tunnels, the guide will give us a captivating overview of Cu Chi's legendary history. We'll learn about the strategic importance of the tunnels during the Vietnam War and the ingenious techniques once utilised by the Viet Cong. To deepen your understanding, we'll watch a documentary that'll portray to us the intensity of the war in this region. This film offers some powerful visuals and personal stories, immersing us in the historical context of the tunnels and the resilience of the people who built and used them from 1955 to 1975.
After watching the film, prepare to be absolutely amazed by this intricate tunnel system. The guide will lead us through fascinating sites such as weapon factories, underground hospitals and kitchens. As we crawl through the narrow, dark tunnels we'll be given a firsthand insight into the challenge faced by the guerilla warriors. This section of the tour is both thrilling and humbling, as we experience a small fraction of what life was like for the Viet Cong. This is most definitely not a tour for the faint of heart!
After discovering the tunnels, we'll savour a delicious manioc, the staple food of Cu Chi's guerilla fighters during the war. This simple yet tasty root vegetable offers a taste of history and a connection to the past.
Finally, after 7 hours together, we'll bring this tour to an end and say our goodbyes back at the starting point in Ho Chi Minh.
