Tour Details
Meet the rest of the group outside the Elbphilharmonie and embark on a one-hour guided tour of this striking landmark. Accompanied by a knowledgeable English-speaking guide, you’ll discover the secrets of this edifice and its square, re-inaugurated in 2017. The concert hall now stands where one of the old warehouses of the traditional Ship Harbor of Hamburg once was. Up until 1900, it was used to store tobacco, tea and cocoa beans. Find out why this exact spot was chosen to construct the Elbphilharmonie.
The façade of the building is truly impressive, especially its wave-like elements and glass top. Once inside, you’ll step inside its fascinating central square, which is accessible by taking the largest escalator in Europe.
During the tour of the plaza, you’ll admire the contrast between the revolutionary glass structure and its historic loading docks. Learn about the history of the building and discover why its halls have the ideal acoustics.
Before concluding the tour, climb to its observation deck, standing 37-meters high, and enjoy magnificent panoramic views of Hamburg. This terrace also houses several restaurants, which offer delicious appetizers and refreshing drinks (not included in the tour).
