Alberobello in Apulia and Matera in Basilicata are two picturesque towns in southern Italy. You'll discover all their charm on this self-guided tour of the southern part of the country.

Tour Details

At the indicated time, we'll pick you up at Piazza Eroi del Mare, 98 ft (30 m) from Bari's Chamber of Commerce and start touring the south of Italy by minibus.

First, we'll drive through the beautiful landscapes of Apulia. An hour later, we'll arrive in Alberobello, where you'll have 3 hours of free time to visit its iconic trulli. These beautiful masonry constructions, very characteristic of southern Italy, were declared a World Heritage Site in 1996.

The Siamesi and Sovrano trulli, as well as the picturesque neighbourhoods of Rione Aia Piccola and Rione dei Monti, are the main attractions of Alberobello. We also recommend visiting other architectural gems of the town, such as the church of San Antonio di Padua or the Basilica of San Cosimo and San Damiano.

After your free time in Alberobello, we'll meet again in the centre of the town to head for Basilicata. At 1:30 pm, we'll arrive in Matera, a charming little town that was named the European Capital of Culture in 2019.

You'll have another 4 hours free for lunch and a leisurely stroll among the famous Sassi of Matera, curious cave houses located in the historic centre. Did you know that some scenes from the 007 film No Time to Die were filmed here? You'll be able to walk the same streets as the secret agent James Bond!

Finally, we'll return to the meeting point, arriving 10-11 hours after pickup.

Tour Options

During the booking process, you can select one of the following options:

Tour + audio guide for the entire excursion
Guided tour in Matera and audio guide for the rest of the excursion.
Guided tour in Matera and Alberobello. This option also includes a tasting of local delicacies from Alberobello, including olive oil, taralli, vincotto and rosolios.
